BlogHe has Parkinson’s. We have something stronger. He has Parkinson’s. We have something stronger. Posted Date : Jun 15, 2026 My name is Allegra Mackie, and I am so grateful to be able to share our story with such a supportive community. When I met my husband, I was a single mom, a nurse, and incredibly self-reliant. He had a Parkinson’s diagnosis that was a decade old. And while most replied with “I’m sorry,” I was just curious and wanted to be his biggest advocate and motivator. Parkinson’s is part of our lives, and I’m sure you know how it goes. Some days he’s unstoppable, and some days his medication needs time to kick in. On those harder days, I put on my nurse hat and pick up the slack. But more often than not, he’s the one teaching me something. He reminds me to stop planning for the worst and just be here, in the moment. As much as it feels like we’re taking on the world sometimes, we wouldn’t be able to do it without your support. Together, we’ve become local advocates, participating in research, taking part in our community, and sharing our story whenever we can. Thanks to supporters like you, Parkinson Canada keeps showing up for people living with Parkinson’s and the families beside them. Your generosity makes every resource, every research breakthrough, and every moment of connection possible.
