Local partner Burnbrae Farms is big on brain health

Burnbrae Farms is a proud, long-time sponsor of Parkinson Canada and SuperWalk. They’re an egg producer that’s been supplying Canadians with farm fresh eggs for over 70 years, and they believe strongly in the importance of wellness and brain health. This is why they partner with national organizations such as Parkinson Canada in support of that goal, all while promoting the importance of a balanced diet and active lifestyle.

Eggs – a simple, brain-boosting food

Omega-3s are healthy fats that are thought to provide benefits for the nervous system. Eggs, particularly omega-3 enriched varieties, are a convenient source. These eggs offer essential nutrients like omega-3 fatty acids, protein, and vitamins that support brain function and muscle strength – key for those managing Parkinson’s disease. Including additional omega-3’s in a diet could potentially improve overall health and support better brain health.

In fact, recent research from Quebec offers promising insights into how omega-3 fatty acids and physical exercise might benefit people with Parkinson’s disease. While the study was conducted in an animal model – meaning the results are not yet conclusive for humans – it suggests that omega-3s, such as those found in eggs, may help protect the brain’s dopaminergic system, which controls movement. When combined with exercise, these benefits were even greater, improving motor function, balance, and dopamine production. In essence, researchers observed a synergistic effect of physical activity and omega-3 on the number of dopamine transporters

Burnbrae Farms is not only dedicated to providing nutritious food but also plays an important role in supporting the Parkinson’s community. Thanks to Burnbrae’s continued partnership with Parkinson Canada, vital research and programs are funded to help improve the lives of those living with Parkinson’s. Burnbrae’s nine locations participate and support SuperWalks across Canada, helping raise critical funds to advance Parkinson’s research and raise awareness, all while encouraging an active lifestyle that can benefit brain health.

“At Burnbrae Farms, we’re not just dedicated to providing fresh, high-quality eggs — we’re passionate about supporting wellness and brain health. Partnering with Parkinson Canada and sponsoring SuperWalk allows us to play a role in advancing research and promoting a balanced, healthy lifestyle that can make a real difference for those living with Parkinson’s disease.”
