The Cummings Centre offers Exercise, Boxing, Speech, and Vocal Training programs for people living with Parkinson’s disease who are over 50, as well as Parkinson Canada Support Groups open to all ages.

Area of Expertise

At the Cummings Centre, a variety of programs are offered to enhance the quality of life for individuals living with Parkinson’s:

  • Adapted Exercise Clinic: Twice-weekly exercise classes designed specifically for Parkinson’s, combining cardiovascular training with boxing, stability/balance, posture, and task-specific exercises. Clients must be assessed before registering to determine eligibility and appropriate class. Classes run Monday to Friday.
  • Boxing Intervals for PD (Côte-des-Neiges & West Island locations): Boxing-inspired training sessions led by experienced coaches to improve cardio, coordination, neuroplasticity, and strength.
  • Zoom Fitness Classes: A variety of classes suitable for different fitness levels, offered online.
  • Personalized Training Sessions: One-on-one sessions with kinesiologists and therapeutic fitness trainers specializing in Parkinson’s disease, available in-person at the Centre, in the client’s home, or online via Zoom, with support offered in multiple languages.
  • Intensive Individual Speech Therapy Sessions: Focused on improving voice and speech for people living with Parkinson’s disease.
  • Speech Maintenance Program for PD: Led by Speech-Language Pathologists, offered in-person and online.
  • Vocal Training with a Music Therapist: Available in-person and online.
  • Art & Crafts, Games Club, Lectures, and Musical Performances: Open to all participants.
  • Parkinson Canada Support Groups.
