Current research has proven that dance encourages physical improvements in gait, posture, and balance along with social engagement and quality of life in people living with Parkinson’s Disease Area of Expertise Founded in 2016 by Dr. Jacqueline Ladwig, the ExplorAbility for Parkinson’s program is a transformative dance initiative designed to make movement accessible to individuals of all ages and abilities. Backed by current research, ExplorAbility for Parkinson’s has been shown to enhance physical health by improving gait, posture, and balance, while also fostering social engagement and enhancing the overall quality of life for those living with Parkinson’s Disease. Dr. Ladwig, who holds a PhD in Applied Health Sciences with a focus on Motor Learning and Control in relation to dance and disability, created the foundation of the program by drawing from her extensive research and teaching experience to empower participants through movement.
