Care FinderBoxing 4 Balance Boxing 4 Balance Categories Boxing Description Boxing 4 Balance is a non-contact, adapted boxing program designed specifically for individuals living with Parkinson’s disease. Sessions combine punching drills on heavy bags and focus mitts with footwork, balance training, core work, and functional strength exercises. The program includes elements of LSVT, boxing technique, and input from current research and our experienced physiotherapists. The goals of the program are to improve balance, gait, coordination, reaction time, strength, posture, vocal projection, and confidence — all areas commonly affected by Parkinson’s. Classes are currently offered Mondays and Thursdays from 1:30-2:30pm at Action & Reaction MMA gym. A medical clearance form must be completed and signed by a physician prior to enrollment. Area of Expertise Boxing 4 Balance classes are led and created by our Head Coach, Farnaz who is an experienced adapted boxing coach. She led boxing classes for PD in London, Ontario before moving to Toronto. She is an internationally trained Physiotherapist and currently also works as a Physiotherapy Assistant with clients with neurological conditions including PD. Classes are also led by Tracy Tan who is an experienced physiotherapist working with clients with PD. Prior to working with PD clients as a physiotherapist, Tracy completed a Master’s degree with her research focusing on proprioception and freezing of gait in PD. Her research has been published in scientific journals such as Neuroscience.
