Blog Their future is in your hands Their future is in your hands Posted Date : Sep 14, 2026 Powering research translates to better care. Some women never receive the proper care and certainty around their diagnosis, because women have, for far too long, been underrepresented in Parkinson’s research. It’s often that I meet people who have questions I don’t have the answers for as a result of limited evidence. This is the reason I work towards finding equity in care by doing the research that was unfortunately overlooked. I’m Dr. Veronica Bruno, and today, I am working towards understanding the biological impacts of Parkinson’s regarding women’s hormones, sexual health, intensity of pain and anxiety, and even how menopause can mask symptoms. This research can accelerate diagnosis time, allow for accurate dosage of medication, and provide more clarity and understanding to women living with Parkinson’s. None of my efforts could materialize without the support and contributions from people like you. Your generosity funds breakthroughs and powers the hope that one day my work can make a difference. Courageous innovation comes from bold research. For too long, research outcomes and lived experiences have operated separately. Bold research bridges the gap. Creating a space where accessibility is prioritized starts with the material we uncover. I always say, “If these questions aren’t asked, answers will not follow”. Right now, Parkinson Canada is looking to fund the next generation of innovators who are asking the bold questions. Your support can ensure they find their answers. Your support strives to ensure that questions no longer go unanswered. This year, Parkinson Canada is providing the amazing opportunity of doubling your impact with a matched gift up until Sept. 25 while matching funds last, thanks to philanthropist Robert Goodall and other generous donors. That means the first $55,000 donated will go twice the distance and power more possibilities for our community. When you give, you’re ensuring that people have a higher chance of receiving better treatment and access to support programs. Consequently, you are guaranteeing that questions no longer go unanswered—bringing a sense of certainty to a highly uncertain diagnosis. Their future is in your hands. Help us reach our goal of raising $63,000! Double your impact now to fuel research breakthroughs.
