CALGARY, AB, January 9, 2018 – Parkinson Canada is expanding its current services and programs to further support Albertans living with Parkinson’s. The national health charity has appointed Tanya Good as Manager, Alberta. She will play a key role in establishing additional services for Albertans, opening an office in Calgary and building relationships with communities, organizations and individuals throughout the province to improve the lives of Albertans living with Parkinson’s.

“I’m looking forward to continuing to work with Albertans living with Parkinson’s and the health care professionals who treat them to ensure they have the best care possible,” says Good, who has worked with the Parkinson’s community in Alberta since 2011. “This is an exciting opportunity to bring additional resources to Albertans to help them manage their Parkinson’s.”

Ms. Good is a capable, experienced leader with more than 24 years of experience in the non-profit sector developing programs. Her strengths are in building community support, developing coalitions and forging strong relationships. She has demonstrated this throughout a solid career in various community-based organizations.

In addition to people living with Parkinson’s and their families, Good will be connecting with care delivery organizations, such as hospitals and residential care facilities; physicians, neurologists and various therapists; provincial health professional associations; and Parkinson researchers in the province. She’ll also be supporting Parkinson Canada Ambassadors to advocate with governments on issues important to them.

“Parkinson Canada offers services such as the bilingual Information and Referral HelpLine, print and online resources, and educational opportunities, to individuals and health professionals across Canada, regardless of their location,” says CEO Joyce Gordon. “We also fund Parkinson researchers and clinical fellows across the country through the Parkinson Canada Research Program. We are very pleased to have Tanya join us to expand services and programs for Albertans.”
