Last weekend, communities across Canada came together for the 2025 Parkinson Canada SuperWalk, a national event filled with optimism and the power of community. More than 2,300 participants walked shoulder-to-shoulder in support of people living with Parkinson’s, raising vital awareness and funds to fuel Parkinson Canada’s mission.

The energy on event day was contagious, with walkers celebrating the resilience of people impacted by Parkinson’s and the generosity of those who support them. For many, SuperWalk is a space for people impacted by Parkinson’s to share stories and connect with others who truly understand.

For Sara Soares, this year marked her second time participating in SuperWalk.

“We walk in honour of our amazing dad, who was diagnosed with Parkinson’s in January 2024. […] Being part of the SuperWalk community has been incredibly meaningful. There’s a deep sense of belonging, strength, and hope that comes from walking alongside so many others who are also impacted by Parkinson’s. It’s truly heartwarming.”

Walkers and participants weren’t the only ones who made the weekend special; our dedicated volunteers and generous vendors also played an essential role in bringing it all to life.

Speaking on why it was important for his business to attend as a vendor, Urban Legends Boxing Club owner Khaled Elbassat says, “One of our members has Parkinson’s, and when he heard we were participating, he was so proud of the club. That meant a lot to him, and to me, because at Urban Legends every member is family. I’ve also seen firsthand how much boxing can help people with Parkinson’s.”

For volunteer Amanjeet Kaur, the importance of volunteering has been ingrained in her since childhood. “As someone born in the Sikh community, I grew up watching my parents volunteer for good causes and help as many people as they could. I wanted to carry that same practice [with me].”

Reflecting on her SuperWalk experience, she shares that it was

“a memorable and beautiful event. Even though I don’t have a direct personal connection to Parkinson’s, hearing the stories of people whose loved ones have Parkinson’s and how that inspired them to participate in the walk really moved my heart.”

Stories like these are just a glimpse into the thousands that make SuperWalk so meaningful.

This year’s SuperWalk was made possible through the unwavering commitment of communities across Canada and the generosity of our sponsors. We extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who joined, donated, or cheered on loved ones. Your involvement brings hope and strengthens the Parkinson’s community from coast to coast.

Although the walk may be over, its impact continues. The stories, connections, and shared determination sparked during SuperWalk will carry forward, inspiring us throughout the year.

To everyone who stepped up, thank you. Together, we are walking toward brighter days for people living with Parkinson’s.
