It is with great sadness that Parkinson Canada mourns the passing of Judi Richardson, Director and Past Chair of the Parkinson Canada Board of Directors.
Judi was a remarkable person with a tireless dedication to causes that were important to her. Her strategic lens, organizational skills and thoughtful ideas have contributed to the success of Parkinson Canada in ways we will continue to see for years to come.
Her fellow board members, and friends, at Parkinson Canada, will miss her terribly, especially her sense of humour, her strength, and her determination to leave everything she touched even better than she found it.
A critical piece of Parkinson Canada’s mission is to fund bold, innovative and impactful research which will bring us closer to finding new treatment options and, potentially, a cure for Parkinson’s. Judi’s personal connection to the Parkinson’s cause was through her father, who passed away December 2014, and research was incredibly important to her.
With these two things in mind, Parkinson Canada will be naming an annual research grant in honour of Judi.
Each year, Parkinson Canada provides pilot grants valued at $75,000 each. Moving forward, the top-ranked pilot grant, which demonstrates innovation and achievement of the highest scientific merit, will be known as The Judi Richardson Parkinson Canada Pilot Grant.
In this way, Judi’s legacy will continue on, and we are honoured to commemorate Judi in this way.
Donations in honour of Judi can be made here.
We extend our sincerest condolences to Judi’s family and friends.
