Mona Baumgarten
Mona worked in academia for nearly 40 years with a primary research focus on issues related to aging, disability and informal caregiving. She is now retired from her role as a professor of epidemiology and cares for her partner who was diagnosed with Parkinson’s in 2018. Her professional experience gave her a unique opportunity to recognize the impact of Parkinson’s disease long before it became an important part of her own life.
Mona’s extensive involvement in academic and research committees, both as a member and as a chairperson, allowed her to develop strong leadership, teamwork, and problem-solving abilities. As the principal investigator on several large research projects, she gained experience managing complex operations and staff. She has had extensive experience in scientific writing and has a particular interest in communicating research findings to non-scientific audiences. Mona resides in Montreal and is fluent in English and French.
