This research investigates the relationship between motor and non-motor symptoms in Parkinson’s disease, specifically how left- or right-side motor symptom onset relates to a non-motor symptoms like sleep disorders. Given the increasing population of older adults and incidence of neurodegeneration in Saskatchewan, our objective is to find out how prevalent a sleep disorder called REM Sleep Behaviour Disorder is in a sample of PD patients in Saskatchewan. We aim to inform strategies to improve the diagnosis and treatment of Parkinson’s disease by learning more about the relationship between the side of motor symptom onset and non-motor symptoms.
