Parkinson Canada CARE Fund CARE Fund is a Parkinson Canada initiative designed to support the unmet needs of people living with Parkinson’s and their care partners. This program provides funding and grants to qualified organizations that develop and implement local health, wellness, educational programs, and community-care models aimed at improving quality of life. CARE Fund prioritizes initiatives that reach diverse and underserved communities across Canada, ensuring equitable access to essential resources, coordinated care, and support. Parkinson Canada’s CARE Fund provides funds for sustainable programs that serve diverse and underserved communities with limited access to Parkinson’s specific programing across the country. The CARE Fund Program will fund initiatives that range from a minimum of $5,000 to a maximum of $25,000 for one year. Programs receiving funding through the Parkinson Canada CARE Fund are expected to align with our commitment to serve diverse and underserved communities with limited access to Parkinson’s specific programming across the country. To be eligible for funding, programs must incorporate at least one of the following focus areas and may integrate multiple areas within a community care model: Exercise Programming. Programs should provide education and activities designed by professionals with experience in various Parkinson’s exercise fields (i.e., dance, Tai Chi, adaptive fitness, etc.). Education & Skill Building Initiatives. Programs should empower individuals and their care partners with both knowledge and practical tools for improved well-being and daily living with Parkinson’s. Mental Health & Parkinson’s. Programs should provide information and activities that provide support, and socialization that help improve the emotional, psychological, and social well-being of those affected by Parkinson’s. Community Care Models for Parkinson’s. Programs should provide community-based supports that help people living with Parkinson’s and their care partners better access, navigate, and participate in local health, wellness, education, and support services. Programs may include multidisciplinary, community and/or home-based approaches, care coordination, and strategies that strengthen local community connections. 2026-2027 CARE Fund program recipients Awareness through Movement a Feldenkrais Program Cummings Jewish Centre for Seniors – Awareness through Movement a Feldenkrais Program Awareness Through Movement is a Feldenkrais-based wellness program designed for individuals living with Parkinson’s disease and their care partners. Through gentle, guided movement sequences, participants improve body awareness, mobility, balance, flexibility, coordination, and confidence in a safe, supportive environment. The program encourages participants to explore comfortable movement at their own pace, promoting more efficient movement patterns and supporting everyday function. It also fosters relaxation, reduces stress, and enhances emotional well being. By including care partners, the program strengthens social connection, shared learning, and practical strategies for daily living, helping improve independence and overall quality of life. Register by calling 514-734-1820 or email susan.rozansky@cummingscentre.org Smart and Safe: Practical AI for People Living with Parkinson’s and Their Care Partners Support for Memory Loss Foundation – Smart and Safe: Practical AI for People Living with Parkinson’s and Their Care Partners Smart and Safe: Practical AI for People Living with Parkinson’s and Their Care Partners is an educational community program designed to help people living with Parkinson’s and their care partners develop practical skills for safely using artificial intelligence (AI) in everyday life. The program will combine in-person and online workshops that introduce accessible AI features, with a strong focus on voice-based interaction. Participants will learn how AI can support communication, information access, organization, and everyday activities in a more accessible and convenient way. Register online or by emailing info@memorylossfoundation.ca Empower-U Connect U-Turn Parkinson’s – Empower-U Connect Empower-U Connect is a live, online exercise and wellness program designed specifically for people living with Parkinson’s The program combines evidence-based exercise instruction with structured opportunities for social connection to reduce isolation, increase physical activity, and improve quality of life. Participants join a live instructor-led class from home and are encouraged to connect with peers during a facilitated “coffee and conversation” session before each class. The program will pilot a new model of virtual engagement that fosters accountability, community, and ongoing participation in exercise. This program starts in October 2026. BC Brain Wellness Program In-Person Group Exercises Classes BC Brain Wellness Program In-Person Group Exercises Classes The BC Brain Wellness Program, in collaboration with the UBC School of Kinesiology, offers evidence-based, in-person exercise classes for people with chronic brain conditions. Classes use a multimodal approach that combines functional movement, strength, aerobic exercise, balance, agility, and dual-cognitive motor activities, with personalized modifications to ensure exercises are safe and appropriately challenging. While most participants live with Parkinson’s disease, the program welcomes people with a range of neurological conditions, creating an inclusive environment where participants can connect, learn from one another, and support overall physical and cognitive well-being. Designed to Stay Designed to Stay Designed to Stay will become a free, accessible online resource to help people with Parkinson’s, caregivers, and families adapt their homes to support safety, independence, and daily living. The project has two main components: creating an interactive public website with content reviewed by an editor and occupational therapist, and developing educational modules for Parkinson Canada’s upcoming Hub. The resources will be designed for long-term use, with the website permanently hosted by the organization and content structured so it can be updated as research and best practices evolve. NeuroBoxe NeuroMotrix – NeuroBoxe A 12-week virtual adapted boxing program for French-speaking people with Parkinson’s across Canada, combining boxing technique and functional training to address motor and non-motor symptoms, fall prevention and social connection. Rise Again: Parkinson Fall Prevention, Recovery & Confidence Parkinson’s South Georgian Bay – Rise Again: Parkinson Fall Prevention, Recovery & Confidence Rise Again is a Parkinson’s-specific falls program designed to help people living with Parkinson’s improve balance, mobility, strength, and confidence while developing practical skills to prevent falls and recover safely when they occur. The program combines individualized kinesiology assessments with ongoing community-based exercise and education focused on fall prevention, safe movement and transitions, floor recovery techniques, and reducing fear of falling. By providing regular opportunities to practice these skills and measure progress over time, Rise Again aims to help people with Parkinson’s stay active, independent, and confident—even when falls happen. Movement Matters Sheridan College – Movement Matters: Parkinson’s Exercise Rehabilitation Movement Matters is a free exercise and rehabilitation program at Sheridan College designed to help people with Parkinson’s disease improve their strength, mobility, and confidence. Striding Strong for Parkinson’s VON – Striding Strong for Parkinson’s The VON SMART Program delivers a free 13-week education, exercise and Activator Pole Walking program for individuals living with Parkinson’s disease and their care partners. The program will begin with a three-hour lunch-and-learn educational session at the Community Support Centre of Essex County – Essex Site (32 Russell St, Essex, ON). Providing participants with knowledge and skills to support safe mobility and independence, reduce fall risk and use the Activator Walking Poles.
