Group discussion of the topic, “How to Participate Effectively in a Group Discussion Setting.”  Group will analyze and discuss the 2018 plan and fine tune it.

February 21, 2018
Group will analyze selected sections of the booklet, Parkinson’s Disease: An Introductory Guide.

March 21, 2018
Group exercise experience. Discussion and practice.

April 18, 2018
Occupational Therapist to present on topic of making your home safer and more convenient for occupancy by a person diagnosed with PD. We may consider holding the session in the home of a client, so check with Parkinson Canada if you plan to attend.

May 16, 2018
Research other sources of knowledge and experience regarding physical living accommodation of people with PD.  Sources may include architects, designer specialists, developers, city planners, technology advisors, special equipment vendors.

September 19, 2018
Brainstorm and prioritize the concept of partnering with other organizations that share goals. e.g.: training volunteers for Parkinson’s and MS.

October 17, 2018
Telehealth – SLP the prevention of choking.

November 21, 2018
Coffee shop setting. Brainstorm and prioritize activities that deal with educating and advocating for the benefit of those who have PD.

Other topics can be integrated with the 2018 plan or developed into an extra topic during this year, or deferred to next year. Some topic examples include the use of podcasts, support groups for caregivers, possibly in partnership with MS families.
