Manon was diagnosed with young-onset Parkinson\u2019s at the age of 27. As a member of the Parkinson\u2019s community, Manon is very knowledgeable about the disease and is passionate about wanting to participate in, and serve, the community. It is Manon\u2019s hope that her work will positively impact the lives of others who are living with Parkinson\u2019s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to her work within the Parkinson\u2019s community, Manon is the administrator of an online support group on the Mewe social network, \u201cEverything about Parkinson\u2019s disease.\u201d She posts informative and reliable content about Parkinson\u2019s. Her goal is to help others who are living with Parkinson\u2019s to better understand the disease.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What motivates you to be a part of the Council?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

My mission is to participate actively to serve the community, offer guidance, and to raise the voice of patients across the country. I hope my work will positively impact the lives of people afflicted with the disease.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What is a key message that you think people living with Parkinson\u2019s or care partners need to hear?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

I want patients and caregivers to know that they are not alone. Their voices are being heard. Also, I want them to be informed and supported throughout their journey with Parkinson\u2019s. This is my main purpose \u2013 to advocate for Parkinson\u2019s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What part of Parkinson Canada\u2019s work are you most passionate about (i.e., research, advocacy, support, etc.) and why?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

I am amazed with Parkinson Canada\u2019s major funding of research projects. Research is crucial to increase knowledge and to develop innovative therapies. Such advancements will greatly improve the lives of people living with Parkinson\u2019s. Furthermore, advocacy is very much needed to increase awareness of Parkinson\u2019s in the general population. There is still a lot of work to do to break myths and stereotypes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Elle y diffuse un contenu informatif et fiable sur la maladie de Parkinson. Son objectif est d’aider les personnes qui vivent avec la maladie de Parkinson \u00e0 mieux la comprendre.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Qu’est-ce qui vous motive \u00e0 faire partie du Conseil ?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Quel est, selon vous, le message cl\u00e9 que les personnes atteintes de la maladie de Parkinson ou les soignants doivent entendre ?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Je veux que les patients et les aidants sachent qu’ils ne sont pas seuls. Leur voix est entendue. Je veux aussi qu’ils soient inform\u00e9s et soutenus tout au long de leur parcours avec la maladie de Parkinson. C’est l\u00e0 mon principal objectif : d\u00e9fendre la cause de la maladie de Parkinson.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Quel est l’aspect du travail de Parkinson Canada qui vous passionne le plus (c.-\u00e0-d. la recherche, la d\u00e9fense des droits, le soutien, etc.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Je suis \u00e9merveill\u00e9 par le financement important des projets de recherche de Parkinson Canada. La recherche est essentielle pour accro\u00eetre les connaissances et mettre au point des th\u00e9rapies novatrices. De telles avanc\u00e9es am\u00e9lioreront consid\u00e9rablement la vie des personnes atteintes de la maladie de Parkinson. En outre, la sensibilisation \u00e0 la maladie de Parkinson dans la population en g\u00e9n\u00e9ral est indispensable.
