Strafella is the Krembil-Rossy chair in molecular imaging of neurodegenerative diseases and professor in the department of medicine (division of neurology) at the Toronto Western Hospital, University Health Network (UHN), University of Toronto (UofT). He is a movement disorder neurologist\u202fin the\u202fEdmond\u202fJ. Safra Program in Parkinson&rsquo;s Disease and Morton\u202f&amp;\u202fGloria Shulman Movement Disorders Clinic at the Toronto Western Hospital, UHN.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><abbr title=\"Doctor\">Dr.<\/abbr> Strafella is\u202fthe chair of research for the division of neurology at the <abbr title=\"University of Toronto\">UofT<\/abbr> and a senior scientist\u202fat the\u202fKrembil\u202fBrain Institute\u202f(KBI)\u202fat UHN, and the Brain Health Imaging Centre at\u202fthe\u202fCentre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH). He is a faculty member of the Institute of Medical Science (IMS) at\u202f<abbr title=\"University of Toronto\">UofT<\/abbr>.\u202f <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On the national\u202ffront,\u202f<abbr title=\"Doctor\">Dr.<\/abbr>\u202fStrafella\u202fis a fellow of the\u202fCanadian Academy of Health Sciences (CAHS)\u202fand currently serves on\u202fits\u202fgovernance and finance board.\u202fHe also serves on the\u202fadvisory board of the CIHR-Institute of Neuroscience, Mental Health and Addiction (INMHA), and the\u202fboard of directors at Parkinson Canada.\u202f\u202f <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Internationally,\u202f<abbr title=\"Doctor\">Dr.<\/abbr>\u202fStrafella\u202fis\u202fthe chair of the Neuroimaging Task Force endorsed by the\u202fInternational\u202fParkinson and\u202fMovement Disorder Society (MDS). He is involved in\u202fseveral other commitments with\u202fthe MDS,\u202fWorld Federation of Neurology, and\u202fover the years, has\u202fbeen invited to participate in panels for\u202fvarious\u202ffunding agencies.\u202f\u202f <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The focus of his research is on Parkinson&rsquo;s and atypical parkinsonism using advanced neuroimaging technology and novel PET radio-ligands. He is using several PET tracers and novel radio-ligands combined with <abbr title=\"magnetic resonance imaging\">MRI<\/abbr> techniques to investigate the pathophysiology of motor, cognitive, and behavioural symptoms in Parkinson&rsquo;s and atypical parkinsonism.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group is-layout-constrained wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained\">\n<div style=\"height:100px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer is-style-responsive-xsmall\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:100px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer is-style-responsive-xsmall\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Le Dr Antonio P. Strafella est titulaire de la chaire Krembil-Rossy d&rsquo;imagerie mol\u00e9culaire des maladies neurod\u00e9g\u00e9n\u00e9ratives et professeur au d\u00e9partement de m\u00e9decine (division de neurologie) du Toronto Western Hospital, University Health Network (UHN), Universit\u00e9 de Toronto (UofT). Il est neurologue sp\u00e9cialis\u00e9 dans les troubles du mouvement au sein du Edmond J. Safra Program in Parkinson&rsquo;s Disease et de la Morton &amp; Gloria Shulman Movement Disorders Clinic au Toronto Western Hospital, UHN.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Le Dr Strafella est titulaire de la chaire de recherche de la division de neurologie de l&rsquo;UofT et chercheur principal au Krembil Brain Institute (KBI) de l&rsquo;UHN et au Brain Health Imaging Centre du Centre de toxicomanie et de sant\u00e9 mentale (CAMH). Il est membre de la facult\u00e9 de l&rsquo;Institut des sciences m\u00e9dicales (IMS) de l&rsquo;Universit\u00e9 de Toronto.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sur le plan national, le Dr Strafella est membre de l&rsquo;Acad\u00e9mie canadienne des sciences de la sant\u00e9 (ACSS) et si\u00e8ge actuellement \u00e0 son conseil de gouvernance et de financement.\u202fIl si\u00e8ge \u00e9galement au conseil consultatif de l&rsquo;Institut des neurosciences, de la sant\u00e9 mentale et des toxicomanies (INSMT) des IRSC et au conseil d&rsquo;administration de Parkinson Canada.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Au niveau international, le Dr Strafella pr\u00e9side le groupe de travail sur la neuroimagerie approuv\u00e9 par la Soci\u00e9t\u00e9 internationale de la maladie de Parkinson et des troubles du mouvement (MDS). Il participe \u00e0 plusieurs autres engagements avec la MDS et la F\u00e9d\u00e9ration mondiale de neurologie et, au fil des ans, a \u00e9t\u00e9 invit\u00e9 \u00e0 participer \u00e0 des groupes d&rsquo;experts pour divers organismes de financement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ses recherches sont ax\u00e9es sur la maladie de Parkinson et le parkinsonisme atypique et font appel \u00e0 des technologies de neuro-imagerie avanc\u00e9es et \u00e0 de nouveaux radio-ligands pour la TEP.
