In 2003, Parkinson Society Canada revitalized our research program. Our new focus encourages the development of new ideas and emerging researchers. We believe this will enhance our support for the best Parkinson's research and researchers across Canada.

Parkinson Society British Columbia will fund Pilot Project Grants of Martin McKeown and Gordon Rintoul, as well as the New Investigator Award of Frank Lee for an additional commitment of $180,000 over the next two years.

Parkinson Society Canada partners with:

• Fonds de la recherche en santé du Quebec (FRSQ) for the first time to fund Graduate Student Awardee, Gian-Luca McLelland. Parkinson Society Canada's contribution: $20,000.

• The Institute of Neurosciences, Mental Health & Addiction to fund Psychosocial Doctoral Awardee, Kaitlyn Roland. Parkinson Society Canada's contribution: $51,333 over three years.

• The Institute of Aging, The Canadian Nurses Foundation and Alzheimer Society Canada as part of the Care Practice in Cognitive Impairment in Aging Funding Partnership to fund two psychosocial research grants: Belinda Parke and Janice Keefe. Parkinson Society Canada's contribution: $50,000.

New awards total $1,313,171 to support new research projects in Canada over the next two years in addition to $376,454 to support for the second year of current existing research awards.
