Bonnie Hopps

Dr. Douglas Hobson, B.Sc., M.D., F.R.C.P.(C)
Since 2006 Dr. Hobson has been the Medical Director and practicing Neurologist at the Movement Disorder Clinic at Deer Lodge Centre, and has been the Co-director of the Movement Disorder Program at the University of Manitoba since 2004. He is currently
involved in several clinic research studies, including Predicting Emergence of Levodopainduced Dyskinesia in Parkinson’s Disease by a Brain Imaging-based Biomarker and Cost Effectiveness Using the Motor Reprogramming Treatment in Functional Movement Disorders. Recent clinical research projects he was involved in include Nasal Asymmetry in Parkinson’s Disease (2009-2015) and NPF Patient Centeredness Study (M. vander Eijk: Netherlands - 2012). Dr. Hobson is a member of the Manitoba Medical Association, the College of Physicians & Surgeons of Canada, the Canadian Movement Disorder Group and the Movement Disorder Society, as well as an Assistant Professor at University of Manitoba, Department of Medicine.


Bonnie Hopps

Bonnie Hopps
Bonnie is an internationally certified instructor in Tai Chi for Health, a special form of Tai Chi developed by Dr. Paul Lam of Australia. The six to 12 steps can be done standing or seated. Evidence based research indicates it improves balance and flexibility, while reducing stress. In her Gizmos and Gadgets presentation Bonnie will share tricks and show gadgets that assist with daily tasks. Bonnie currently trains and presents for Manitoba Fitness Council’s certified fitness instructors, is a trainer/mentor for ALCOA’s Steppin’ Up program, and she teaches specialty aquacise classes for the City of Winnipeg. Bonnie has been teaching specialty exercise programs for the past 40 years and chronic disease management for 20+ years.

Jeannine Carman, CLYL
Jeannine Carman was introduced to Laughter Clubs in 2004 and was immediately hooked on the benefits of laughter such as: lightening your mood, calming your mind and relaxing your body. She was one of the first class of Laughter Yoga Leaders to be certified here
in Manitoba. Jeannine leads various laughter sessions and also provides laughter yoga presentations and workshops for family reunions, businesses, corporations, conferences, organizations and schools. In addition, Jeannine participated in an opera of laughter on the Laughter CD “HA” created to enjoy spontaneous laughter at home, in the car or office. She truly believes that world peace begins with the inner peace that each of us experience through laughter. The lesson she has learned from Laughter Yoga is “Let it Go.”
