Volunteer Recognition


Each year, Parkinson Society Canada accepts nominations for three national awards to celebrate the dedication, leadership and generosity of extraordinary volunteers who share our vision of a better life with a brighter future for Canadians living with Parkinson’s disease. Nominations for the 2012 awards will be accepted until March 31, 2012. View our history of past recipients


David Simmonds Award David Simmonds Award • This award honours the unique contribution and charisma of David Simmonds, the chairman of PSC from 1999 to 2001, who through his exceptional vision, leadership and negotiation skills, perseverance and commitment, redefined and strengthened the voice of those living with Parkinson’s in Canada. The recipient of this award will be someone who has demonstrated extraordinary leadership skills which have resulted in a significant contribution to the lives of people with Parkinson’s.

Mimi Feutl Award • This award is intended for an individual who, through compassion and provision of information and support, has made life better for individuals living with Parkinson’s and their families. The recipient of the award will exemplify the compassion, energy and unwavering commitment of Mimi Feutl, former Director of Patient Services with the Parkinson Foundation of Canada for over 22 years, to people with Parkinson’s and their families.

Dr. Morton Shulman Award Dr. Morton Shulman Award • This award is intended for an individual or organization that, through fearless advocacy and an ability to make change, has made life better for Canadians with Parkinson’s and their families. Exemplifying the creativity, energy and tenacity of the late Morton Shulman to influence and make a difference in the face of adversity is a key attribute of all those recognized by this award.
