Through this initiative, PSC invites grant applications from professionals committed to conducting novel, emerging, or innovative research in areas relevant to the cure, cause, prevention, improved treatment and/or understanding of Parkinson’s disease and its implications on society. This program is, therefore, a strategic initiative to encourage established investigators to enter into the study of Parkinson’s disease and perform research in new, specifically targeted, high priority areas.
By committing 25-50% of its annual research budget to Pilot Projects, PSC is positioning itself as a committed supporter of Canadian research potential. Further support is provided to existing funded projects by offering the possibility to renew funding upon the successful applicant’s re-application to the program. PSC anticipates that funded projects in this program may lead to subsequent substantial grants from larger granting institutions. This critical “seed money” aims to foster new development and “grow” new ideas and approaches to Parkinson’s research.

This program, therefore, is part of an active investment in the future of Canadian Parkinson’s research, supporting promising individual researchers in their professional development.

The basic research fellowship program is a strategic initiative to encourage promising young scientists possessing a doctoral qualification (MD or PhD) in medicine to enter the field of Parkinson's research and to invest in research training that offers promise for future work in the area of Parkinson’s disease. Funds awarded under the Program are to be used to cover salary, benefits and expenses for research fellowships in Parkinson's-related areas.
Through this initiative, PSC invites fellowship applications from applicants committed to conducting biomedical research in areas relevant to the cure, cause, prevention, improved treatment and/or understanding of Parkinson’s disease.

Relative to the needs of Canadians with Parkinson’s, there is currently a shortage of leaders involved in Parkinson’s service and clinical research programs in Canada. PSC believes that this shortage of medical specialists, neurologists or neurosurgeons with experience both in the critical management of Parkinson’s and in its clinical research, has the potential to worsen in the next few years.
The clinical research fellowship program, therefore, is a strategic initiative to encourage promising young scientists possessing a doctoral qualification (MD) in medicine to enter the field of Parkinson's clinical research and to invest in research training that offers promise for future work in the area of Parkinson’s disease. Funds awarded under the Program are to be used to cover salary, benefits and expenses for clinical research fellowships in Parkinson's-related areas.

PSC wishes to encourage continued growth and revitalization in the fields of Parkinson's research in Canada by supporting talented young scientists and providing students with an opportunity to enter into the area of Parkinson's research during the early stages of their training. Funds awarded under the Program are to be used to cover salaries for research training in Parkinson's-related areas.
Through this initiative, PSC invites fellowship applications from applicants committed to conducting biomedical research in areas relevant to the cure, cause, prevention, improved treatment and/or understanding of Parkinson's disease.
The Program is available to only those students engaged in full-time research training in a graduate school. At the time of application, all candidates must be enrolled in graduate study program at the Master's or PhD level.
