Key Issues

Parkinson Society Canada's National Advocacy Program focuses on two key issues:

Improving quality of life for people living with Parkinson's Accelerating research to uncover the cause and cure for Parkinson's
Parkinson Society Canada is participating in the following initiatives, as a key member of Neurological Health Charities Canada:

National Population Health Study of Neurological Conditions and A Brain Strategy for Canada
There is an immediate need for accelerated and increased investment in both Parkinson’s-specific research and broad-based neuroscience research.

Increased investment in Parkinson’s research would bring us closer to answers about the causes of Parkinson’s, complications of Parkinson’s, biomarkers, neuroprotection, dopamine development, cognition and dementia, and the social and psychological impacts of Parkinson’s. It would also speed up Canadian researchers’ ability to convert their scientific discoveries into practical applications that will improve the lives of all Canadians affected by Parkinson’s.
